The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

Ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.

BACKGROUND

Founded on February 12, 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s foremost, largest, and most widely recognized civil rights organization. The DC branch was chartered just 4 years later on June 3, 1913.

APPROACH

We reimagined the web presence of one of the first branches of the monumental organization, expanding on key elements from the headquarters’ website and brand guide, while allowing it to stand on its own. In addition to creating the concept, we created a use case to shift the site to a CMS which would allow authorized users to suggest changes that could ultimately be approved by the chapter president and UI/UX team. The changes to the backend could allow for a quicker, streamlined update process, empower committee chairs in regards to their public content, and give the leadership more ownership of the site overall.
