BRTRC Federal Solutions Announces Updated Acquisition Training Course

Vienna, VA – June 8, 2016 – BRTRC Federal Solutions will offer an updated training course specifically for the government medical community. Intermediate Medical Acquisition Course 2.0 (IMAC 2.0) (previously IMAC) is equivalent to the Defense Acquisition University’s ACQ 203 Intermediate Systems Acquisition Course.

IMAC 2.0 provides practical skills for personnel working in, or interfacing with, the DOD acquisition process for medical products. The in-person classroom workshop provides members of the DOD medical community, including medics, other health care providers, researchers, medical logisticians, specialists in U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and others, with training on the DOD acquisition process and its application to medical products.

"The acquisition of medical products is one of the most complex specialties for DOD, with risks and variables that few other acquisition fields face. IMAC 2.0 not only addresses those complexities, but is also a valuable scouting and recruiting tool to find scientists with programmatic and business skills, and develop them into skilled project managers," said Tom Aeillo, BRTRC, IMAC Course Director.

The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) is a long-time supporter of acquisition excellence and the necessity of specific training with the DOD acquisition process for medical products. BRTRC has been honored to support USAMRMC and offer IMAC training for the Command since 2004.

USAMRMC is the Army's medical materiel developer, with responsibility for medical research, development, and acquisition and medical life cycle logistics management. The USAMRMC's expertise in these critical areas helps establish and maintain the capabilities the Army needs to fight and win on the battlefield. Medical information and products developed by the USAMRMC protect and sustain the health and safety of the force through deployment and combat. The USAMRMC motto, "Protect, Project, Sustain," emphasizes the Command's priorities in support of the Warfighter.
